TOTAL MILEAGE FOR 2016 - 2001.8
This afternoon I reached a big milestone, exceeding 2000 miles for the year—a plateau I didn't reach until October 23 last year. The dramatic improvement is only possible because last year I didn't even get my trike and begin accumulating miles until May 4, but this year, by contrast, our mild "winter" has allowed me to ride most days this year (when I was not sidelined either by travel or by mechanical issues).
Blessed with a morning visit from my dear cousins Joe and Debbie Exe, who had moved from Michigan to Arizona last year so that I had not seen them in a long time, I did not ride until 1:00 p.m. When I set out, it was 81°—a temperature that (fortunately) held throughout my ride, rather than climbing. Knowing what I needed to do to make the 2000 level, I only rode roughly two and a half round trips to Marsh Park today, rather than three—two full ones, and then a round trip to Woodland Dr., which is equivalent to about half a round trip to Marsh Park. This total ride of 23.1 miles took me 2:39.
Alan, Congrats on reaching 2,000 miles! You inspire me to keep riding even on a rainy day. Enjoy! rob
